Become a OWR wildlife paramedic 

This is role is based at our busy wildlife casualty centre reception desk, you will be representing the charity by meeting and greeting members of public in distress with a sick, injured or orphaned wild animal. Oxfordshire Wildlife Rescue during its 'busy season' can receive up to 120 phone calls per day and can see the centre take in between 20 - 80 wildlife casualty admissions daily.  

Communication skills, the ability to remain calm and collective in a busy work environment are key skills for this role.

Other roles within this volunteer position include: 

  • Taking incoming telephone calls and giving advice to the general public regarding wildlife. (full training will be given)

  • Booking in patients at the busy reception desk

  • Organising rescues and dispatching our wildlife paramedics to injured wildlife that need to be attended to at the scene

  • Entering all admissions onto our database (full training will be given)

  • Encouraging donations and memberships from the public bringing in animals to us

  • General running of a very busy reception desk and administrative support to the main office.

  • Cash handling will be required following our code and practices. 

 

Full training will be given; however applicants should have a good standard of literacy, numeracy, basic understanding of computers, hold a clear and respectable telephone manner and should be able to demonstrate good customer service with a smile. Attention to detail is very important, and any previous customer service or reception experience would be ideal but not essential.
